When I lived in Romania, I drove often from Bucharest to the Carpathians, passing a "Paralela 45" sign on the highway. It always struck me as a strange thing to mark, but it became cool to think about being closer to the pole than the equator (and vice-versa). This arrangement for brass is based on an original piece for keyboard and is inspired by notions of geography and topography, mathematical grids and physical features. It has three movements now but I might just add more.
