Violin from Ich liebe dich or I Love Thee (GRIEG) for Solo Violin with piano accompaniment, arr. by Pamela Webb Tubbs
Norwegian composer Edvard Grieg (1843-1907) composed this beautiful tune, which he set to an Andersen verse, for his fiancée Nina Hagerup, a lyric soprano. (Ich liebe dich is a German phrase meaning “I love thee.”) The original text by Hans Christian Andersen (1805-1875) was in Danish; the song is commonly sung in German.
