The Overture is the first part of a four-movement suite for brass quintet, taken from Handel’s well-known work. The other three movements in the suite (La Paix, La Rejouissance and Menuet) are also available. The Overture may be performed on its own, without the other three movements. The whole suite takes about ten minutes to perform. The original ’Music for the Royal Fireworks’ was composed to celebrate the Peace of Aix-la-Chapelle in 1749. Horn in Eb, Trombone in Bb, Bass in Eb and Bass in Bb parts are provided as alternatives for brass band players.
