Violin I from Holberg Suite - Praeludium
The Holberg Suite - or to use its correct title 'Aus Holbergs Zeit' (From Holberg's Time) - is a suite of five movements based on eighteenth century dance forms. Written in 1884 as a suite for piano to celebrate the 200th anniversary of the birth of playwright Ludvig Holberg, it was premiered the following year in its now more famous orchestral form.
The movements of the suite are:
1. Praeludium 2. Sarabande 3. Gavotte FREE 4. Air 5. Rigaudon
