This interesting Scottish tune was composed by Nathaniel Gow (1763-1831), who was the fourth son of the famous Neil Gow (1727-1807). Traditionally Scottish in nature, it is characteristic of the music of the time and lends itself well to being arranged for string quartet. Sounding at first like a Hornpipe, it later develops in to a more complicated Reel form which is similar in style to a French Baroque Rigaudon.
