The words (in Old English) are very charming, such as "O my dear hert, yung Jesu sweit, prepare thy creddil in my spreit." I have set it for soprano and tenor duet with very simple piano accompaniment. The modal melody is appropriate and the 6/4 rhythm gives a feeling of rocking the infant.
