Had a musician’s faux-pas today - I have a cold, so I was a little out of it (plus it’s the 8:45am Mass and I’m not a morning person!) Anyway, this is a three pager and somehow I had the third page second and the second page third on my stands. I was to sing part 1 and everyone else was to sing part 2. We’ll, because I had the pages in the wrong order I went from measure 10 to measure 23 thinking I was continuing verse 1! Of course the reality was I went from doing half of verse 1 to the entirety of verse 3! As soon as I heard everyone not singing "it is prescribed for me" I knew I was doofing up! Not only that, but I had transposed my keyboard down two half steps for the Gloria, and had forgotten to transpose back up, so the guitarist and I were in completely different keys for the intro! When I realized what had happened I leaned back and whispered "capo 2 - sorry!" and he came back in. Yikes!

I know the pastor must have noticed - I hope I don’t get in trouble! Anyway, we’re having rehearsal this week, so maybe the third week in ordinary time we’ll be back to nailing the psalm again! God bless you and your ministry!

Which method of viewing music should I use?

Score Exchange has two methods to display previews of music: seView which uses regular html and javascipt and the Scorch plug-in from Avid which needs to be downloaded and installed onto your computer. Both have advantages and disadvantages:

seView

seView, is the most compatible option. You should be able to view music on all modern web browsers including most mobile devices. Even if your device does not support javascript you should still be able to preview at least page one of the music.

You do not need to install any additional software to use seView.

Scorch

Scorch is a free plug-in from Avid for displaying and printing music. It can also play the music that you're seeing. As modern web browsers are updated, Scorch is no longer compatible with many browsers. Scorch has never been compatible with mobile devices and some web browsers on Mac computers.

If your web browser does not install Scorch automatically, you can click here to download and install scorch manually.
