Vibraphone from Thermal
Another episode of my Monkey Music suite based on the Chinese novel "Journey to the West", written for chamber orchestra. A thirteen-bar theme stated twice is succeeded by a danmono (Japanese form of instrumental music whose cyclical nature is hinted at by the reappearance of certain small fragments) based on a thirteen bar cycle which gradually transforms itself into a full-blown passacaglia. When the original theme bursts in again the effect is one of transfiguration. The short coda represents the taking off of UFOs. This episode is nowhere to be found in the Chinese original.
