I was a sailor On the southern cape The sea my jailer

Without any light Very little hope Squid flashing bright

I say it is my very plight The blinking taupe To very bright white

And deep red at night There is just no way to cope An evil sight

Cold and wet I’m soaked Helpless that I be Over I float

Clutched to the side of a small boat In the dark sea Is that help but nope

Not even a small rope Arms that grab me Tentacles that grope

On a feeding spree With a tearing beak Could not foresee

That I would be the escapee My flesh they seek Such a cold degree

Struggle is the key Although it looked really bleak I did break free

I clambered a board One of the small boats And escaped the horde

So this is my tale My death I did face While others did flail

Almost did I fail So dire was my case When I did go sail

Down Humboldt way Blood they did taste Its hell this is what I say

So there is no chase So slow are we men The attack I face

A ravenous pace Does have me pinned in I must hold and brace

I’d rather be anyplace Than I’m in This cold dreaded place

Full of evil sin Red devil squid vice The sad death of men

I did not give in I’m bit more than thrice I count more than ten

I just can’t win Then something nice I see the hand of a friend
