The two hardest elements of Adagio for Strings include instrument control and tempo. She is a temptress so don't allow the tempo to drift to 60 BPM. Resist, resist, resist! Looking forward to hearing your rubato interpretations around 48 BPM.

Interpretive suggestion - The cesuras and ensemble wide rests should linger longer than feels natural. Allow the natural reverb of your performance space to die before proceeding. Same for the last note. Conductor should maintain conducting position until reverb dissipates. The perpetual moments of dissonance in the piece keeps the listener on edge and uneasy throughout. Allow the pauses to be silent periods of that same unrest…silent dissonance, if you will.
