Euph 2 from Capriol Suite - Basse Danse
Originally written for strings in 1926 and orchestrated for full orchestra in 1928, this piece (as are all the other 5 movements of the suite) is based on an old French dance from the late 16th century and sucessfully conveys the feel of that period whilst utilising a few modern harmonies. A well known favourite. A straight forward arrangement, the only real challenge being the top Cs (concert pitch) in the 1st Euph part.
