After years of writing string quartet arrangements, I was asked to adapt some of them for saxophone quartet (2 alto Saxes in Eb, tenor sax in Bb, and baritone sax in Eb). This is the first of them.

Johann Strauss, Jr. (1825-1899), the "Waltz King", also produced a great deal of other popular dance music for the Viennese public including polkas, galops, schottisches, and quadrilles, in addition to his 13 operettas. The "Thunder and Lightning" Polka ("Unter Donner und Blitz") was originally composed in 1868 unter the title "Shooting Stars" Polka.
