A brief travelogue reminiscing about the first time I made the coastal drive; first week of January 1975. We left Redondo Beach around 11PM getting to Morro Bay just as the sun was rising. We got as far as Monterey - first time I visited Point Joe, so I did :) - before turning around. We had a flight back east the following day and we were burning daylight. This was before the major mudslides, the views from the road were spectacular and awe inspiring. But even better was the second time driving from SF to LA some 5 or 6 years later (the Redwoods? Also amazing!). Maybe its time to go back?
