A suite of dances from Praetorius' Terpsichore arranged for string orchestra. The first three dances are Correntes, The first is La Mouline, literally The Mill; The second, the Moresque, the Morrish dance or Masquerade; the third is La Rosetta, or the little rose. After the Correntes, the Pavana de Spaigne, or Spanish Pavane, a stately dance in duple meter. There are three periods as per tradition, and the pavane is followed by a Galliarde, a lively dance in triple meter with shifting internal meters. The next dances are a Sarabande, a slow dance in triple meter and finally Bouree I and II, a lively French dance in duple meter. An interesting thing about the Bourees is how they found their way into popular culture in the 1930s and later in the late 1960s in the stage version of "The Wizard of Oz" and a Windex commercial respectively.
