Cello part from Born Is a Baby (piano, violin, cello) (Christmas)

This medley of Christmas songs was chosen in an effort to emphasize the reason the God of creation came to dwell with fallen mankind: to be our Emmanuel, to restore the fellowship that was lost between God and man since Adam's fall. "Away in a Manger (non-traditional tune)," "One Small Child," and "Emmanuel" are the songs included in this arrangement.

The violin carries the melody largely throughout the piece, although the piano does take over occasionally. The piece should start out softly (imagine a starlit night in Bethlehem thousands of years ago when the Christ-child lay in a feeding trough), then proceed to more joyous chords with "Emmanuel." There is a tendency to play this part too fast; don't fall into that number! "One Small Child" provides a mysterious, faster-moving segue into the finale of "Emmanuel," which should be played strongly and joyously up to the final resolution.

I hope you find this piece enjoyable and satisfying, but most of all, I pray it draws you closer to the True Meaning of Christmas!

Which method of viewing music should I use?

Score Exchange has two methods to display previews of music: seView which uses regular html and javascipt and the Scorch plug-in from Avid which needs to be downloaded and installed onto your computer. Both have advantages and disadvantages:

seView, is the most compatible option. You should be able to view music on all modern web browsers including most mobile devices. Even if your device does not support javascript you should still be able to preview at least page one of the music.

You do not need to install any additional software to use seView.

Scorch is a free plug-in from Avid for displaying and printing music. It can also play the music that you're seeing. As modern web browsers are updated, Scorch is no longer compatible with many browsers. Scorch has never been compatible with mobile devices and some web browsers on Mac computers.

If your web browser does not install Scorch automatically, you can click here to download and install scorch manually.
