Chimes from The Great Gate of Kiev from ’Pictures’ - brass ensemble
The Great Gate of Kiev is the famous finale to Mussorgsky’s "Pictures at an Exhibition" and it translates very well for brass and percussion. Whilst this arrangement is not easy to play, it has been performed successfully on a number of occasions and is an excellent finisher to a programme. Piccolo trumpet in B flat is required, and the large percussion section (optional) certainly adds greatly to the piece.
The mp3 file is of Kontakt player and gives a much more accurate picture of the overall sound which is created by this arrangement.
