Stephen Pompa is a Western Maryland composer and pianist. He composes music that fuses classical forms and melodies with contemporary harmony and sound design practices. His influences range from Bach, Beethoven and Chopin to Trent Reznor, Hans Zimmer and Matisyahu. His music is also meant to accompany artistic video.

Pompa recently conducted the performance of a cantata, Light, and is working on a film score (title TBA) for an LA-based director. He is also working on a DVD of music and video, the scores to which will be uploaded to sibeliusmusic.com.

Pompa was born 1981 in Alabama. In 2003 Pompa earned his BM in Piano Performance at Appalachian State University, where he studied primarily with Dr. Rodney Reynerson, and did supplemental work with Dr. Bair Shagdaron. In 2005 he earned his MM in Performance from James Madison University where he studied with Steinway Artist Dr. Eric Ruple, and studied collaborative piano with Dr. Gabriel Dobner. In 2009 he earned an MS from Shenandoah Conservatory.

His wife Lindsay is a flutist; they both are Maryland music educators. In 2010 they celebrated the birth of their first son.
