Matt Varho

Matt Varho attended California State University Fullerton where he studied music composition and arranging with Dr. Lloyd Rodgers and Dr. Andrew Charlton and was a bass trombone performance major at both CSUF and California State University Long Beach. Matt was a director of the Moravian Trombone Choir of Downey, California and has played bass trombone in the Fresno Philharmonic and Grand Opera, South Coast Symphony and Rio Hondo Symphony, Cypress Pops, The OC Brass and The Slyde Rowe Trombone Quartet. He has performed at the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion and Hollywood Bowl. In addition, Matt has played in the big bands of Tracy Wells, Ralph Blaze, Hank Levy, Matt Catingub and Tom Kubis.

Matt currently has a growing catalogue of original trombone quartets and quintets written primarily for advanced high school and early college level players in mind. Planned additions to the catalogue will include easy to intermediate percussion ensemble pieces, original orchestra and wind band pieces and transcriptions for brass ensembles as well as other chamber groups.
