I did some grades at school but as Director of Music in a large Baptist Church with brass, poppy bands and choral groups I needed more background and theory to lead others. Did Associate of London College of Music in Church Music in 1999 and in 2000 was awarded ALCM in Composition and Arranging for 6 compositions. Sibelius has transformed the music I can write for the groups, especially the orchestra and brass section when it plays with the band (kbds, kit, bass, guitars). Main influences are broadly jazz based but I have wide musical tastes but maybe Mark Knoffler or Phil Collins style is what I like best - good band with good brass.
