David McKay holds a Master of Music degree (Composition) from the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory, a Bachelor of Music (Composition, Literature and Theory) from Heidelberg University (formerly Heidelberg College), and an Associate in Theology degree from Florida Beacon Bible College. A composition student of Lukas Foss, Paul Palombo and Norman Dinerstein, McKay won the prestigious BMI Awards to Student Composers for his Piano Concerto in 1976.

McKay simultaneously began his professional career as educator, arranger-composer, pianist and worship leader in Cincinnati over 25 years ago. He taught theory-composition, co-directed the music theatre group, and arranged and orchestrated the score to "Pinocchio" at the School for Creative and Performing Arts. He was staff arranger, composer and session keyboard player for Sound Images and Jay Gilbert Productions. McKay served as the Minister of Music at Love & Faith Christian Fellowship. He is a sought-after worship leader, pianist, educator, conference speaker, and music software clinician.

David is the leader of smooth jazz group Quad Venti, whose music is available on iTunes. He has performed with the Maranatha Praise Band, conducted the Cincinnati Mass Choir with Ron Kenoly and Don Moen, recroded with Lynn DeShazo, Leann and Carl Albrecht, and scored music for a Max Lucado animated film. He has been a conference speaker at the Christian Arts Festival (Baja, Hungary), Christian Musician Summit (Seattle, WA), Winter NAMM (Anaheim, CA), Gospel Music Worship Workshop (Dallas, TX), Catholic Charismatic Conference (Foggia, Italy) and Worship God Conference 08 (Gaithersburg, MD).

Recently, David orchestrated music and provided music prep services for an upcoming Paramount Picture release, Lion of Judah. In 2006, his composition for piano and orchestra entitled Dorian Reel was premiered with the Nashville Symphony Orchestra at the Schermerhorn Symphony Center. His sacred choral music is published by LifeWay, Word Music Now, St. James Music Press, Art Masters Studios Inc.(Lorenz) and Belden Street Music..

David serves an adjunct professor of music theory-composition, commercial music and class piano at Belmont University (Nashville, TN. His local music ministry assignments these days include The Well of Nashville and Grace Presbyterian Church (PCA)

He is founder and president of KPG Ministries (Kainos Praise Group), affiliated with Artists in Christian Testimony International.
