HIDEHIKO HINOHARA took a degree in Music with a major in Composition from the Tokyo State University of Fine Arts and Music. He moved to Florence where he attended specialization courses in Composition held by Sylvano Bussotti, Giacomo Manzoni and Camillo Togni at the Fiesole Music School.

He made his debut at the 1991 Venice Biennale with «La vecchia del sonno» for soprano and eight instruments (poems by Aldo Palazzeschi) and he won the first prize in the PREMIO VALENTINO BUCCHI, an international competition for music composition (1993, Rome) with his piece «all'alba fragrante…» for contrabass.

In the meantime Hinohara had begun his career as a pianist - he has dedicated himself particularly to chamber music and to contemporary repertory.

In 2000 he was the Principal Piano in the world premier of the opera «TIESTE» by Sylvano Bussotti (director: Arturo Tamayo) and he composed original music for the theater piece «OPUS FLORENTINUM» by the famous italian poet Mario Luzi, which was represented at the DUOMO of Florence for the Jubilee.

Since 2000 he coordinate the «elastiko - contemporary sound space» group which promote every artistic activities over the genre and organize a festival of contemporary music at Florence.

Dopo la laurea in Composizione presso l'Università Statale di Belle Arti e Musica di Tokyo, Hinohara si trasferisce in Italia dove si perfeziona con Sylvano Bussotti, Giacomo Manzoni e Camillo Togni presso la Scuola di Musica di Fiesole.

Nel 1991 esordisce alla Biennale di Venezia presentando «La vecchia del sonno» per soprano e otto strumenti. Nel 1993 vince il 1° premio al Concorso "PREMIO VALENTINO BUCCHI" (Roma) con «all'alba fragrante…» per contrabbasso solo. Nel contempo inizia l'attività di pianista che si svolge prevalentemente nel campo della musica da camera e contemporanea. Nel 2000 è pianoforte principale nella prima rappresentazione mondiale dell'opera «Tieste» di Sylvano Bussotti al Teatro dell'Opera di Roma. In occasione della chiusura del Giubileo compone musiche originali per lo spettacolo «Opus Florentinum» (testi di Mario Luzi, regia di Giancarlo Cauteruccio) rappresentato al Duomo di Firenze.

Nel 2007 partecipa alla prima rappresentazione dell'opera da camera «Silvano Sylvano» di Bussotti e presenta «En douze morceaux» e l'oratorio «Enkidu» al Festival d'Avignon. Coordina il gruppo "elastiko" per la musica contemporanea, con cui tiene concerti nell'ambito internazionale.
