Thomas Forkert (trumpet and piano,b.1965) studied Jazz-Composition at the Musikhochschule in Cologne with Bill Dobbins and at the Institut of the Arts in Arnhem (The Netherlands) with Dolf de Kinkelder and Andries van Rossem. As a Composer he is former member of the German All-State Jazz Orchestra (BuJazzO). In 1998 he got an Award for Outstanding Musicianship from Berklee College/Boston. Though often rooted in the Jazz Idiom, Thomas Forkert´s compositions embrace a wide variety of stiles including modern classical music as well as Jazz and a lot of educational Music. Commissions include the German All-State Jazz Orchestra, the Over Betuwe College Wind-Band, the Guerzenich-Choir/Cologne, the Stephan-Max Wirth Ensemble and many more. Currently Thomas Forkert is working as Music Educator, freelance Composer and as Conductor of several Big Bands situated in the Cologne-Area, Germany.
