Lee Jackson

Lee Jackson hails from Austin, Texas, where he was born on 19 November 1963. He is married with one son, and currently lives in Garland, Texas, a suburb on the northeast corner of Dallas.

Lee has written music professionally for over 30 years now, getting his first official music job with a Garland computer game company in the early 1990s. He broke through with the popular song, “Grabbag,” the theme to the game Duke Nukem 3D, which was covered by the heavy metal supergroup Megadeth. Lee went on to write over 100 songs for computer games alone during his tenure at that company.

Since that time, he has put out five albums – Calibrations, Derivations, Duke Nukem Tank Tracks, Lady Tygress’ Suite and Other Commissions, and most recently, Going Big. He has also released several singles, all of which along with the albums are available on his Bandcamp site. Lee is also a member of ASCAP and is a voting member of the GRAMMY® organization.

In recent years, Lee has been channeling his energies toward writing for “real world” ensembles. To that end, he has written several original chamber music pieces as well as other works for concert band. His concert and chamber works blend bold, memorable themes and rhythmic drive with clear, accessible harmony, drawing on his game‑music background and a wind player’s instinct for color, line, and practical playability.
