Dr. Shirley Mier is a composer, music director and music educator residing in the Twin Cities. Her music has won awards and been performed across the country. She has received numerous commissions from local theatres (especially Stages Theatre, where she is a Resident Artist), and from community bands and school bands in the Twin Cities area. Publications include children's musicals, concert band works, and pegagogical piano duets. Dr. Mier earned her M.A. and Ph.D. in Music Composition at the University of Minnesota and holds a B.A. in Music from Grinnell College. She teaches at Century College in White Bear Lake, MN, and is a member of ASCAP, The Dramatists Guild, and the American Composers Forum.
