These songs were composed during a research for stylistic aspects of English continuo-songs in the late Renaissance. The 3 compositions reflect the global evolution of the style. It is visible, for example, through the modal character of the first and the more tonal thinking in the last song. The second of course is in-between, there is more tonal-harmonical direction then in 1 and there are more different chords then in 3. 1 has more sixth-chords, 3 has more dissonants.
