The Saxonaires [youth marching band]
This march was written for very young people aged from about 6 to 18 years old, sometimes even younger. In the north of England villages organise what are called "Jazz Bands", though what they play is not by any means jazz. These bands are colourful, well disciplined, enthusiastic and competetive. Barely any of the young ones could play any instrument so they played the lead line on cazzoos (or dur-durs as they are colloquially called). This one was for a band called the Saxonaires, but any name could be used. The lyrics are not essential but will need ’tweeking’ to suit any other band.
