String Quartet No. 1
This quartet was first performed by The Regency Ensemble on 14th February 2010 at The All Saints’ Centre, Lewes.
The quartet dates from the early 1990s. Material from the first movement is also used in the third and fourth movements. The third movement begins as the first movement ends as if picking up where the previous movement left off. The fourth movement begins as the second movement ends in a similar way. As part of the material in the last movement I seem to have used a tone row, not a usual occurrence in my music.
