Fashion Show Music
This string quartet is a short one movement piece written for the Graduate Fashion Week 2002. The commission came from a friend of a friend who is graduating with a presentation of his work and wanted "something that would be typically played at a posh dinner party."
I came up with this: a piece which amalgamates Mozart, Mendelssohn and my own cheesy modulations! It is undoubtedly pastiche, although I doubt very much that either Mozart or Mendelssohn would have modulated to the key a tritone from the root!
Many thanks go to Sunny Roh, Tom Gould, Pedro Meireles and Rachael Tobin who played for the recording for a pittance of a fee!
