Anatoly Liadov (1855-1914) was a major talent of late 19th century Russian romanticism. Unfortunately, he was habitually lazy and many of his pieces lay unfinished. Most of the music he did finish was in the form of small suites and character pieces. All of his music is melodic, and has great charm. I have arranged a suite of Three pieces for two pianos, of which this intimate and melancholy Prelude is the first.
