I like this tune so much that I’ve written 2 sets of lyrics to it. IMANDRA is attributed to Ananias Davisson (1780-1857), who was a printer in Virginia and compiled "Kentucky Harmony," a shape-note tunebook, in 1816. It is not certain whether he actually wrote IMANDRA or just collected and harmonized it.

Currently, more Christians suffer persecution than at any time in history. It is estimated that tens of thousands of people are killed every year because of their belief in Christ and hundreds of millions suffer. For more information, see the many web sites concerning persecution of Christians, such as Voice of the Martyrs at www.persecution.com and www.persecution.net Also Open Doors at www.opendoors.org.au/ and International Christian Concern at www.persecution.org/

"When the Cries of Your Faithful Believers are Heard" would be an appropriate song for the International Day of Prayer held each year in November - see www.idop.org/
