Parable No. 13 - The Prodigal Son [print up to 30]
Parables of Jesus
[The MP3 demo includes the words, sung] This dramatic, upbeat piece starts off with the Algerian scale. It offers three short solo spots: the prodigal son (tenor), his father (bass) and brother (tenor). The time signature alternates between 2/4 and 6/8, but the quaver (=eighth note) sub-beat remains exactly the same throughout. There is a nod to "Money, money, money" to set the scene, and a hint of Gilbert & Sullivan with the chorus chiming in to echo what has just been said here and there.
