William Baines: The Vale of Memories
William Baines (1899-1922) was a gifted Yorkshire composer and pianist who died tragically young at the aged of only 23. Whilst he is largely remembered for his solo piano works he also wrote a large-scale Symphony, chamber and instrumental music and a number of songs. The Vale of Memories is a slight piece, dedicated to his "Aunt Loo - in memory of Uncle." It may be slight, it does require considerable virtuosity, particularly in the left hand!
