Which method of viewing music should I use?
Score Exchange has two methods to display previews of music: seView which uses regular html and javascipt and the Scorch plug-in from Avid which needs to be downloaded and installed onto your computer. Both have advantages and disadvantages:
You do not need to install any additional software to use seView.
Scorch is a free plug-in from Avid for displaying and printing music. It can also play the music that you're seeing. As modern web browsers are updated, Scorch is no longer compatible with many browsers. Scorch has never been compatible with mobile devices and some web browsers on Mac computers.
If your web browser does not install Scorch automatically, you can click here to download and install scorch manually.
The static preview shows a basic image of the first page.
The interactive preview also shows a preview of the first page, but it's a bit slower to load. The preview is displayed using the Sibelius Cloud Publishing technology from Avid. With most scores, this technology will provide a higher quality preview, as well as being able to switch to full screen mode and also play the displayed music to you.
Printing after purchase

This went rather quickly and unexpectedly and was intended for a pre-Halloween completion date, but I didn't quite make it in time.
My aim initially was to write something solo for some string instrument, and try out string type articulations, etc. Perhaps good practice and diversion for my longer Serenade for Strings still in development.
At first I had cello in mind, but this had a violin personality as soon as it started sounded jazzy and spooky. Weird too, because it turns out that the piano part is the more fun of the two. Was a lot of fun to do the stride bass and other piano-ims, as well as the over used few violin tricks, like the slides, or glissandos.
The result is a little romp that I hope is as fun to listen to as it was to compose.
Also, somewhere in my little world, this piece feels sort of like what would happen if Schubert (the melodramatic piano part in Erlkoenig) and Joplin (a rag, the stride bass) scared each other during the afterlife, but were both just learning, or in my case, relearning stuff from previous serious musical study.
A co-worker of mine thought it also sounded klezmer! Cool, I say. Have fun.
Please, please let me know if I have done a disservice to violinists, ie with the tripple stops and quick articulation changes I notated. I could use the pointers on better notation or corrections.
