Each year, when teaching Beginning Band, Elementary Band, Youth Band or Junior Band in a school environment, you have a different number of students with various levels of playing ability. With this woodwind ensemble piece, you can group woodwinds based on available instrumentation and the playing level of each student. Smooth Harmony can be played as a woodwind quintet, as an ensemble of like woodwind instruments - flute quintet, clarinet quintet, saxophone quintet - or any combination of woodwind instruments. See the teacher notes on the score for more information on the use of this piece in schools.
