Gap Song for piano solo
Gap Song (1986)
The idea for this piece came to me while vacationing with my family in the Delaware Water Gap. I was in the pool looking up at a brilliant sky and sun, surrounded by verdant hills, and the piece came to me at once as a sort of vision which I was able to capture later and put on paper. I wrote Gap Song also as an elegy for Edmund Niemann’s mother, who took ill around this time.
