Written using mostly chance operations to determine various parameters for the piece, this work pays homage to two composers who during their respected times helped expand the musical genre into realms which most people did not understand. Messiaen brought colors to music and harmonies that had never been heard, while Cage brought chance operations, new sounds and silence. Although these composers differ stylistically, I’ve tried to bring the two together through their common interest in nature; particularly via the birdsong.
