Bach derived much inspiration from the music of Antonio Vivaldi, and from 1713-1714 Bach transcribed at least nine concertos of Vivaldi’s concertos, three for solo organ and six for solo harpsichord. Bach’s concerto in A minor for organ is an arrangement of Vivaldi’s concerto op.3 no. 6 for 2 violins and basso continuo, RV522. Simon Peberdy’s piano duet is an arrangement of Bach’s arrangement of Vivaldi’s concerto. This, the second movement, is simple enough to play as a solo piece, but has been included as a duet arrangement to complete the concerto. The 1st and 3rd movement are the really fun ones to play!
