I VOW TO THEE MY COUNTRY
I Vow To Thee My Country began life as part of "Jupiter" from Gustav Holst's Orchestral Suite "The Planets". It was soon recognised as one of the great tunes of the classical repertoir and has been described by some musicalogists as the most perfectly constructed melody ever written. When the words of Cecil Spring Rice were added in 1921 it became one of the best loved patriotic British hymns.
This arrangement puts a slightly more contrapuntal spin on it and adds a maestoso coda.
