With Courage, Faith, and Sacrifice
This hymn is dedicated to my ancestors and all the Mormon pioneers that crossed the plains in search of a refuge from hatred and persecution, which they found in the Salt Lake valley in what today is the State of Utah. I hope you will forgive the fact that some of the lyrics are distinctly LDS and consider instead the tremendous courage, faith, and sacrifice of all those throughout history who have sought religious freedom. The call to service and sacrifice in the last verse is, of course, relevant to members of all denominations. An early version of this hymn was a finalist in the 2000 LDS Church Music Submission. I hope you enjoy it and would appreciate your comments and constructive criticism.
