written for the 10 November, 1859 festival in Paris marking Schiller's 100th birthday, hence it is also known as the Schiller-Marsch. It was published in several versions–for orchestra, solo piano, 1 piano 4 hands, 2 pianos 8 hands, flute quartet, etc. Liszt did a virtuosic solo piano version as well, which, as best I can tell, has not been recorded.
