"Walking With Ardi"
"ARDI" IS 4.4 MILLION YEAR OLD BIPED FEMALE HOMINID.
This piece is written in two parts. Part one is written in 12/8 time reminiscent of a dance. It is lyrical to the extent of an early hominid learning to walk on two legs for the first time. As is always the case, once someone learns to walk they find mischief, adventure and clumsy mishaps. Throughout the piece expressive text are subtle suggestions of play and longing. The second part is "Andante con moto". The movement or moto is a description for the movements of attraction. Syncopated rhythms are the simple cues modern humans use to draw attention. The long notes held are for longing, lonesomeness, weariness, etc.
Bb Clarinet would suffice. Both instruments share melody and countermelody and should be balanced accordingly. It is an interesting harmony sometimes traditional, sometimes modern. I have ideas for a third movement which could be discussed if needed.
The multiphonic used in measure 11 is as follows: https://heatherroche.net/2014/07/02/on-close-dyad-multiphonics-for-bb-clarinet/
My compositions have been compared to Brahms, Stravinsky and most recently to Mussorgsky. My ambition as a reputable composer would only be accentuated with your commission. Please take 12 minutes to listen to "Walking With Ardi" and consider my efforts for your repertoire. It has been a pleasure.
(The audio is 8 minutes in duration, please follow the tempo marks as indicated in the score, the piece is 12 in length.)
Kind Regards,
Tim Horace
