You are purchasing high quality sheet music PDF files suitable for printing or viewing on digital devices.Written and performed for a concert celebrating the patron saint of music, the St. Cecilia Suite tickles the intellect as well as the ear. The whole composition is based on the the opening ground bass of the first movement which is a strict passacaglia. The second movement is looser, using themes based upon the ground both in its original form and in inversion while the last movement turns it into a new theme and then moves into a set of variations. At the climax of this movement the passacaglia theme is reintroduced to bring the whole to a stirring finale.
