One of the best loved hymns for Holy Week arranged simply for four guitars with optional flute or violin. An easy arrangement for beginners with some work up the neck for guitar one. Edward Miller (1735-1807) adapted the hymn tune Rockingham from an earlier tune called Tunebridge published in Aaron Williams's A Second Supplement to Psalmody in Miniature (c. 1780). The tune is dedicated to Miller's friend and patron, the Marquis of Rockingham, who served twice as Great Britain's prime minister.
