This concert band arrangement of one of Scott Joplin's earliest piano pieces makes an excellent concert curtain-raiser, finale, or encore. Joplin had not yet developed his signature syncopation, but this spirited march features a surprising Trio that sounds like a German beer-barrel polka and a rousing final strain that points the way to ragtime. Appropriate for a good high school wind ensemble, or a college or community band.

The audio clip is a complete concert performance by the Peninsula Symphonic Winds.
