This piece was written for and dedicated to my friend, the wonderful violist Sarah Darling. We have played it together once, but no tape-recorder was present.
I have left out the dynamic markings on purpose, and hesitantly put in a metronome marking just so that you don't listen to it at quarter=220.
This piece is made up of phrases, melodies based on chords which never appear in their root position. There are many ways to shape this piece convincingly, and the presense of any dynamics (or other detailed markings) would only stifle your imagination.
