I so enjoy watching butterflies on a hot summer day. The uneven rhythm of their flight and
the light lyrical quality of their appearance comes through on this work of changing meters.
I hope young clarinet players will enjoy developing their technique further with this piece. This
work is dedicated to my piano students who also study the clarinet under the guidance of other
instructors. Thank you.
