Nouveaux Concerts No 13 mvt2 Air
One of the best ways of defining musical genius is if a composer never had an off day. Bach, Mozart and Charlie Parker just didn't know how to play bum notes. By this defintion, I would include Francois Couperin in that illustrious company. To me, he never misses the mark. These four dance movements make up his 13th concerto published in 1724 as part of the series of "New Concertos" or "Les Gouts Reunis". They were designed for use by any combination of instruments. Being French, I rather fancy Couperin would have liked the saxophone.
