This is a simple aleatory work for string quartet. It is made up of four sets of a note row. The first is a brief melody and accompaniment, the second a pizzicato, the third a slower moving phrase. The fourth a closing gesture. These four versions are available in the four versions of the row. The players must start in the top left hand corner and end in the bottom right hand corner. How they get there is their choice. There is no limit on how many of the options they play, nor how many times they play them. They could just choose the opening and closing phrases.
