This was written after listening for the 1,000 time Pachelbel's Canon in D. I used his mechanism only that the right hand in the harpshichord remained the same making some wanted chromatic harmony. The violins have obviously changed the tune from that of Pachelbel's but the techniques used are mainly the same. UPDATE: Pachelbel's Canon didn't have any unison parts.. it had 1 voice which which repeated itself 3 times (with 3 viols) every 8 bars yet the voice moves and therefore creates polyphony. I used the same technique: 1 voice moving every 8 bars. Canon (any canon) means contrapuntal imitation in its strictest form: the melodic line is repeated in every voice.
