Latin Mass for choir with brass (2 tpt, 2 tbn), timpani, tam-tam, and organ. The work was premiered on Easter, April 11, 2004 at the Church of the Ascension and Saint Agnes, Washington, DC.

The Missa Lux et Origo is a setting, note-for-note and rhythm-for-rhythm of the great Gregorian Plainsong Mass for Easter morning. Lux et origo, meaning light and origins, or rebirth, is the text of a trope once attached to the Kyrie movement. This setting resembles in plan, but not necessarily musical language, the masses of Durufl? and Langlais, each of whom has examples of ?harmonized? chant. The accompaniment of brass, timpani, tam-tam, and organ plays both a supportive and antiphonal role to the literal transcription of the chant.
